ANCHOR BOLT INSPECTIONS

Benefits of Anchor Bolt Inspections

Roof anchors are common and extremely useful parts of fall protection systems utilized on tall buildings. These must be inspected regularly to ensure that they still serve their safety function and are still compliant with OSHA regulations, especially when those regulations change and your anchors need to stay up to date. Thorough anchor bolt testing is a necessity that we can help you with at the Shine On Group. We’re the USA’s top anchor installation and fall protection experts, designing, installing, inspecting and certifying fall protection systems. We can inspect and recertify your anchor bolts to make sure you follow all regulations and your workers are safe, performing a thorough inspection and offer advice on changes and updates if necessary.

Why You Need Anchor Bolt Testing

Simply put, you need to have regular inspections and recertifications of your fall protection systems according to OSHA. Not meeting those guidelines for inspections can result in fines and being held liable in case of serious accidents. One inspection every 12 months is a necessary investment of your time and money to ensure your anchors are still working properly. There are a lot of things that can happen to them that can damage them as they’re exposed to the element and as we put constant weight and pressure on them while using them. This can result in corrosion, cracks and other damage which becomes worse over time and can seriously impact the integrity of the anchor if not addressed in time. This damage can cause accidents, and they can also cost more to repair if they’ve been allowed to get more serious without early intervention. Furthermore, the inspection must be performed by a skilled and competent professional who is not the user or owner of the anchor system to ensure there is no bias, which is why you should hire Shine on Anchors to do it for you. How an Anchor Bolt Inspection Works

An anchor bolt inspection will start with a visual inspection where one of our experts will visually examine anchors and bolts for cracks, corrosion, rust and other damage. We’ll also assess if the system meets current OSHA guidelines and other regulations. Other things that will happen during your inspection is that we’ll perform an anchor bolt pull test to test the holding power of the anchor, evaluate the fasteners based on tightness and corrosion and inspect the welds. We’ll also perform the crucial load testing that the load-bearing capabilities of the anchor are safe and compliant. If any damage is discovered we will assess whether this has an impact on the strength and operational capabilities of the anchor, and we will advise on how to fix this and how to adjust your system if necessary to meet current regulations. Once that’s over with, we’ll issue a certification that each anchor point is viable, safe and compliant.
